FORT WORTH, Texas — A child riding his bicycle Saturday in Fort Worth was struck by a pickup truck and taken to the hospital, police said. A person of interest has been identified, police said.
Officers responded about 7:39 p.m. to the 3200 block of Strong Avenue for a hit-and-run investigation.
Detectives determined a person was driving the pickup eastbound when it hit a child on his bike, police said.

Police are investigating after a man on a bicycle was killed Monday morning after being struck by a tractor-trailer in Kilgore.
Officers responded after 911 calls at around 10:20 a.m. about a wreck on Texas 42 South near the private entrance to Brookshires, Kilgore police said in an afternoon post on the department’s Facebook page. A preliminary investigation shows the bicyclist had entered the roadway as the tractor-trailer was headed south.

There’s been a lot of bicycle theft showing up in my Next Door feed over the last year. Global pandemics with their concomitant economic hardships have put all kinds of strain on people. But this brazen act takes the cake. Robbers literally broke through the front door of The Peddler Bike Shop in Hyde Park area of Austin, Texas with a probably stolen truck. I happened to see it on the website for the news station where I get my weather, and I was aghast. It is the closet shop to me, and I’ve been going there longer than any shops here.
