Liberty County New Asphalt But Chip Seal Loomed At Overpass
Looking for a route for today’s bike ride I decided to try going east on FM 1960 to see how far into Liberty County I could ride. The route was a little different from my last attempt not going by the May Community Center on the way back to Kingwood today. The route label for today, “Kingwood to FM1960 Railroad Overpass – Back”. Checking my ride log in SportTracks this is the second time this route appears since I started keeping ride GPS data in 2010. I started the ride at 10:29 AM riding my Canyon Endurace CF SLX bike.
I guessed the ride would go 41 to 42 miles but ended up at 40.57 miles. The week now stands at 82.69 miles and June totals 712.22 miles. Getting close to the 800 mile goal. The gap between 2021 and 2020 YTD miles narrowed to 105 miles, a nice drop from yesterday.
During the night it rained as a “cool” front moved through. By the time I started the ride the streets were dry but the humidity was high (correcting what I said in the video). The temperature was lower though. Weather summary: start 80 (87% humidity, 75.6 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind N 7 mph; finish 86 (72% humidity, 76.4 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind NW 5 mph.
No strong headwind to fight on the way back to Kingwood allowing me to average 14.0 mph overall. Not as tired after finishing at 1:35 PM as yesterday.
