New Kit to Ride In 80% Humidity Kingwood – Splendora – Kingwood
I read the Space City Weather forecast email this morning and hoped I could get today’s bike ride finished before any rain arrived. A few chores delayed my start until 10:30 AM as I rode away on my Lynskey R300 bike. I chose my “Kingwood – Splendora – Kingwood” route because I only rode it once before in 2021.
Over 2 months ago since the last trip. today’s distance was slight shorter at 42.11 miles and the average speed 1 mph slower, probably because of the headwind from Splendora back to Kingwood. I trail YTD 2020 by 146 miles. Not too bad considering I didn’t ride yesterday, Father’s Day.
It was a new kit bike ride with new shorts and jersey, both from Primal.
The aforementioned wind was 10 mph from the south on the way to Splendora and back to Kingwood. The humidity was around 80% making for a muggy ride without much benefit from evaporation to help me stay cool. Weather overall: start 86 (74% humidity, 76.3 dew point), overcast, wind S 10 mph; finish 86 (80% humidity, 78.9 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 10 mph. As I write this (4 PM) it is raining outside but I got home at 2:15 PM before it arrived.
Strava told me I am now the local legend on 2 segments.
