Video: 25 bikes donated to WFISD Head Start students
www.newschannel6now.com
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – 25 lucky Wichita Falls ISD students got their very own bikes on Wednesday, completely free of charge.
Those bikes came from the Wichita Falls Fire Department, who had them leftover from Operation Santa Claus because the community was so generous.
The fire department partnered with Head Start in the WFISD to get those bikes to kids. Teachers from 25 classrooms each picked a kid in their class who didn’t have a ride of their own.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be able to do something like this, especially at the end of the year when they will be at home and able to …

Official bike ride: City manager hosts downtown tour Friday
Steve Clark | news.yahoo.com
May 27—It seemed like the thing to do, getting Brownsville City Manager Noel Bernal to lead a public bike tour of downtown, especially since May is National Bike Month.
Joel Garza Jr., director of multimodal transportation for the city, thought it would be a great way to promote safe cycling, show people what’s happening downtown and spotlight the new BCycle bike-share program Brownsville launched on May 21 in partnership with the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council. Harlingen and McAllen launched their …
Affordable bike share B-Cycle now available in Brownsville
by: Rocio Villalobos | www.valleycentral.com
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KVEO) — There’s a new mode of transportation in Brownsville, which not only helps save money on gas, but it allows you to exercise and is beneficial for the environment.
Brownsville previously had a bike-share program, but when the contract for the previous provider ended, the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council wanted the RGV to have a single bike-share company across the Rio Grande Valley. B-Cycle was first offered in McAllen and finally made available in …

How did you get here today?
Most of you answered that you drove here, right?
Of course, you did. That’s the city we have built for so long. That’s the choice we have invested so much money in. After years and years of investing in our City, we know people use what we build. Our biggest investments, by a wide margin, is our investment in our roads. And people have taken us up on that investment and mostly travel throughout our region using those roads. …

Rain is in the forecast the next few days but that doesn't mean you have to put your bike ride on pause! Wear water-repellent clothing and consider splash guards to keep your next grocery trip or cozy coffee date dry as the West Texas desert. #ATXBikeMonth pic.twitter.com/sa1ZNkeADQ

Interesting experience with @ups and @FedEx today. Sending a 32 lb bike box Austin to Mill Valley, something that would typically cost $120 to $170 when I had a business account with both. Shocked when UPS quoted $382 for ground shipping, so went to FedEx to see if they’d be less
— Hill Abell (@HillAbellATX) May 27, 2021
Is FedEx any less? Well, lo and behold, it was EXACTLY the same amount, to the dollar! I’m not here to claim price fixing, but it certainly makes one wonder how @UPS and @Fedex are charging precisely the same exorbitant amount for shipping.
