Sunny Day For Spring Creek Greenway Bike Ride
Beautiful weather as I rolled out on today’s bike ride heading for the Spring Creek Greenway. The ride began at 11:00 AM and thankfully didn’t include a flat tire like yesterday. The bike for today’s ride: Canyon Endurace CF SLX. I rode 44.09 miles boosting the week’s total to 80.39 miles and putting me over my 600 mile goal for April with 607 miles. Next goal is to equal April 2020 with 957 miles. This will be a big stretch. The weather will need to help me.
Last year on this date I rode to Splendora covering 43.2 miles. During the bike ride I noticed a number of people using power washers, maybe a sign of boredom during the days of Covid-19 restrictions. April 20th, 2019, I biked the opposite direction to Stroker Road and Huffman going 42.22 miles. Both days’ weather were like today.
Today was the third time riding on the Spring Creek Greenway this year but the other times were shorter distances.
Photos from the ride.
Chamber of Commerce weather for the bike ride: start 72 (43% humidity, 48.4 dew point), fair, wind W 6 mph; finish 79 (35% humidity, 49.4 dew point), a few clouds, wind NW 8 mph. I prefer the temperature to be higher but I dressed correctly wearing shorts, a long sleeve jersey with a short sleeve jersey over it. The greenway has a lot of shade and the long sleeves kept me comfortable and from the sun. Tomorrow will not be as warm.
A number of cyclists out today as the video shows.
Strava listed a number of medals for the ride: 4 gold personal records, 4 silver, and 2 bronze. I wasn’t thinking of them as I biked but I did keep a nice pace.
