Day 2 – Camp Wood: Clear Blue Skies After Last Night’s Thunderstorm
Thursday March 25, 2021, 51 miles (83 km) – Total so far: 85 miles (137 km) Last night before I went to bed I decided to check the forecast. The weather service forecasted possible rain after midnight. The future radar showed the storms passing north of Brackettville but I decided to stake down the tent and put on the rain fly. Just before midnight I checked and the weather service had issued a tornado watch which included Brackettville. About a hour later I checked again and the weather service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning with up to 1 inch hail and wind gust to 60 mph.
Between 1 and 2 am I experience the first thunderstorm of the tour. It blew pretty good and did get some good downpours but I don’t think there was any hail. The tent held up and I didn’t see any leaks. The only rain which got in was rain which was blown under the rain fly.
Got up this morning, got everything dried up and …

GROUP RIDE (subtitles) – Fastest Pop A ever – 3/25/2021
Honest Tree | www.youtube.com
We think this may have been the fastest Pop A ever done. Low-wind condition, big group, and a first-time rider with us who happens to be a multiple-time masters world and national champion. And is still winning road races (this year) against the local elite pros/cat1s. Those aren’t your average pulls, LOL.
For anyone who says you can’t eject out of clipless pedals like a ninja 🙂

Kris Nordstrom McBride | www.houstonchronicle.com
… As our state opens up and we begin to cautiously return to a more normal life, we have some great news to share. Bridgewood Farms, one of the most beloved and respected organizations in our community, will host its annual bike ride again this year. Yes folks, ‘Burn Your Buns†is back – can we all say Yah! Yah!Yah! We missed the ride last year, and its return is cause for celebration, both for the cyclists who love this ride and for Bridgewood Farms, which has really suffered financially during COVID-19. The profits from this ride, along with some other new and returning events, will really help them get back to a comfortable financial place. Save the date and mark your calendars for Sunday morning, July 4. The ride begins early and we’re all back at Bridgewood Farms for …
He Was a Troubled Kid from a Broken Home. Then He Found Bikes.
By ian dille | www.bicycling.com
Bryan Albright learned early that life could be cruel and unpredictable. Cycling became the one thing he could count on.
THE FIRST BIKE WAS RED. And it had a flat tire.
Bryan rolled the bike across the street not long after I moved in. A cherubic, 11-year-old fifth grader, bright eyed and brown haired, trudging up my steep driveway, he found me in my garage where I was drilling holes for bike hooks, my cycling gear spread across the floor.
“Can you help me fix this?†he asked, or something along those lines. The wheel was out of true and the brakes rubbed, so we fixed those too. Then we …
Donate canned food, ride your bike to support the North Texas Food Bank
By Renee Umsted | lakewood.advocatemag.com
No one was prepared for the winter storm that struck Texas in February. No one was ready for a surge in the number of families in our city in need of clean water and food.
But the need came anyway.
After last month’s unprecedented weather, Kory Helfman knew the community, and especially the North Texas Food Bank, needed help. So Helfman, the owner of Ken’s Man’s Shop in Preston Royal Village, got together with other small businesses in the shopping center and organized the Preston Royal Pedal fundraiser.
“We want it to be almost a family event, because it’s in April,†Helfman says. The race is …
