Briefly Lost Biking Kingwood Streets and Trails
I started today’s bike ride at 1:43 PM after getting home from church and getting ready to ride. I decided to combine some different streets and greenbelt trails in Kingwood for variety naming the route “Kingwood Streets and Trails”. I even got lost when I tried a new entrance into Royal Brook but found my way back to streets I knew. Since the streets are new I did expect them to show up on the map. With the different combination I biked 22.25 miles putting the week’s total at 162.8 miles. This broke my string of 200+ mile weeks. The week’s summary is below. So far in March I rode 454.8 road miles (600 mile goal) and 120.1 Zwift miles (75 mile goal) for a total of 574.89 miles. Not riding Friday and 2 shorter Zwift rides accounted for not reaching 200 miles for the week.
Today’s weather was chiller than I expected with the forecasted high of 71 degrees all it could must was 66 degrees at the start and 69 when I finished at 3:33 PM. Wind increased during ride explaining why I pedaled harder and went slower. I dressed warmer than necessary but felt comfortable with the wind chill. Weather conditions: start 66 (54% humidity, 48.5 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 7 mph; finish 69 (48% humidity, 48.4 dew point), a few clouds, wind S 9 mph gusts 18 mph.
Biking the trails I go slower because of other people and the twist and turns. I got a workout but didn’t go as fast as an all road bike ride. Strava declared my ride was easier than my usual efforts but it didn’t feel that when battling the headwind.
