Warms Up Enough For First Road Bike Ride of 2021
Today’s bike ride initiated my road biking for 2021. I started at 12:36 PM. Riding my Canyon Endurace bike I chose the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route and rode 33.31 miles. I altered the route slightly so that the end of the ride would not be on the same streets. This added to the typical mileage for this route of 31 to 32 miles. My road mileage goal for January is 300 miles this ride accounted for 11% so far. Weather can be tough in January so I need to bike whenever it allows. My goal status after 3 days in January.
Speaking of weather this is the first day with the temperature above 60 this year. Weather conditions at the start and 3:13 PM ride finish: start 67 (45% humidity, 44.9 dew point), a few clouds, wind SW 10 mph; finish 68 (45% humidity, 45.9 dew point), a few clouds, wind S 9 mph. I dressed warmly to offset what I consider chilly weather with shorts, leg warmers, a long sleeve thermal jersey, windbreaker jacket, and half finger gloves.
The ride was consistent with my usual efforts according to Strava. I notched a silver medal on the Kings Crossing North segment.
