Determined To Ignore The Chill – Bike Ride to FM 2100
Determined to go biking today. The temperature went to 53 degrees overnight and seemed like it was going to stay there all day. I watched the temperature go up and down a degree on my home weather station until it got to 59.7. At that point rounding up put it at my threshold and I got dressed. No sun just cloudy which didn’t help it warm up either. Normally on Saturday I want to start riding before 9 AM but today I didn’t ride until 12:33 PM. I stuck to my usual Saturday route, “Atascocita – FM 2100 – Walden” riding my Canyon Endurace bike. I figured if any cyclists rode today they braved the chilly weather earlier and I wouldn’t see anyone. I did see 2 though.
The reason for my determination: ride 25 miles to make it a 200 mile week. I did that biking 31.13 miles and the week totals 206.32 miles. My month now totals 718 miles, 103 miles over my goal.
Last night after watching a YouTube video about the GoPro Hero 7 Black, mic adapter, a case to hold them I changed the GoPro setup. I used the setup for today’s bike ride but the cheap mic did not pickup the consistently sound but recorded scratchy sound. A few times when my voice recorded the mic placement was good though. I need a better mic. The main change was mounting the mic on the stem rather than attaching it to my helmet strap. The setup.
My kit for the chilly weather: shorts, leg warmers, long sleeve thermal jersey, wind jacket, regular gloves. I wore regular gloves to operate the GoPro cameras and I thought my fingers would get cold but after I rode for 15 minutes I didn’t notice them being cold. Weather: start 60 (80% humidity, 53.5 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind N 12 mph; finish 67 (72% humidity, 58.1 dew point), partly cloudy, wind N 10 mph. The first cyclist I saw looked like he was dressed like me but the second one skipped the leg warmers.
According to Golden Cheetah’s analysis of my ride I spent 69% of the time in power zones 2 through 7. 10% in in zones 6 and 7.
