Two New Components, New Video Style, Biking Toward A 200 Mile Week
Two new pieces of equipment on today’s bike ride: new tires for my Lynskey R300, and new cleats on my Sidi shoes. The Continental Gatorskin 700×32 tires replace the Kenda Valkyrie Elite ones that came with the bike. The Kenda tires had a hard life lately with a cut sidewall and screw puncture. The new cleats weren’t planned but after looking at the old ones I decided not to switch them because the right cleat was worn thin. At the start of the ride I noticed the cleats moved freely in the 6 degree range as expected. The new tires felt good and hugged the road tightly (ha, ha). I aired them to 80 psi making bumps not so harsh. Maybe the extra 2mm of width makes a difference?
I began the ride at 11:27 AM after watching the Giro d’Italia stage 18 and stage 3 of the Vuelta a Espana. Both went up some steep mountains that thankfully don’t exist around here. I am a flatlander. The concluded at 1:49 PM after I biked 31.46 miles. My week total is now 139.65 miles, getting closer to the 200 mile point. After reaching my October goal yesterday these miles add to my total. Year to date I am now at 8,006 miles adding road and Zwift miles together.
I changed the video style using two cameras. The Hero 7 Silver mounted out front and below the Bolt computer recorded longer portions of the ride. I used the hero 7 Black for ride introduction clip. I may switch the cameras around. After the ride I changed to a different editing program, Garmin ViRB Edit, adding ride data overlay from the FIT file the Bolt computer creates. At the end of the video I added the Relive.cc ride map animation clip. Add some titles, longer video and viola, a new recipe.
Fall weather predominated during the ride with mid 80’s temperature, light wind and some sun. I can tell it’s fall at the end of the ride because my CamelBak still contains some ice. Weather at the start and finish: start 84 (79% humidity, 77 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 10 mph; finish 85 (72% humidity, 74.6 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind E 8 mph.
