Yellow Wildflowers Galore Biking to Splendora and Back
Biking north today on the “Kingwood – Splendora – Kingwood” route on my Lynskey R300 bike. The ride began at 11:33 AM and finished at 3:10 PM. Between those times I rode 42.28 miles. Moving closer to a 200 mile week with 116.15 miles so far. Before the ride I watched stage 11 of the Giro d’Italia and the 2020 Scheldeprijs race. That accounts for the later start time but not a problem because no time limit today. This was the 8th time biking this route in 2020, 6 on my Lynskey and 2 on my Canyon Endurace.
As the ride developed I felt comfortable turning the pedals. The Lynskey moved forward as I applied the power (for me anyway) smoothly enabling me to get my average speed to 14.1 mph and hold it until nearing the finish of the bike ride. No squeaks, rubbing sounds, or other noises just the chain and gear doing their job.
In the video I stopped to show a large area covered with various yellow wildflowers. Those weren’t just in that one spot either. Fall leaves haven’t start changing yet but other colors are abundant.
Fall weather continues to be warm but not overly hot. today was a short sleeve jersey and arm sleeve day. Weather conditions: start 79 (71% humidity, 68.8 dew point), partly cloudy, wind SE 6 mph. Finish 86 (62% humidity, 71.2 dew point), partly cloudy, wind SW 7 mph. On the ride back to Kingwood I thought the wind might pose a problem but the headwind wasn’t as strong as I feared.
After my second 40+ mile ride this week I am making great progress towards my October goal, only 200 miles to ride.
My PowerPod recorded power output today among other data in the chart below.
Strava told me today’s bike ride was harder than my usual effort. Only 8 segments in Strava.
