Family looks to make change after losing father to bike crash

SAN ANTONIO- A father of four lost his life while riding his bike in far South Bexar County off of Highway 281 and now, his loved ones have an urgent warning to other drivers and a heartfelt message about their dad.
"I’m really proud of being his son," son Specialist Juan Garcia III said.

Anything can be a work of art—even your bike. This weekend nonprofit bike sharing program Houston BCycle is proving that with its Unicorn Bike Show at Sawyer Yards. Local artists have hand-painted 10 bikes, using public murals they had previously painted in the city as inspiration. All the bikes, along with large-scale photography of the original murals, will be showcased together at this outdoor exhibition during this month’s Second Saturday at Sawyer Park. A prohibition on parking in Houston’s bike lanes will have to wait another week amid city council confusion about enforcement strategy.
