Plano’s Bluebonnet Trail sprang to life this year with a slew of visitors looking for a socially-distant way to get outdoors during the pandemic. The trail has seen a steady stream of guests—families, bike riders, dog walkers and even roller-bladers.

LUBBOCK, Texas — At least 10 bikes or bike parts have been stolen from the Texas Tech campus this week alone, according to Texas Tech police reports, and they said that it’s actually not surprising for this time of year.
“Unfortunately, we do have individuals that come onto campus with bolt cutters or with the intent to steal [bicycles]. A lot of times, [thieves] will pawn them at pawn shops, or they’ll take them to have their own means of transportation,†Lt. Amy Ivey, an administrative lieutenant at Texas Tech PD said.

Shane Howard grew up riding his bike in Cameron Park, and now he is rolling back into Waco from Colorado to open a bike shop on Elm Avenue.
He is moving to a stretch where public and private developments are rapidly unfolding. Howard has signed a lease at 720 Elm Ave. and will occupy half a building owned by Anthony Billings and Rodney Clark. Police seek driver involved in hit-and-run that injured bicyclist

TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a crash in which a 51-year-old Texarkana, Texas, man was struck by a vehicle Sunday while riding a motorized bicycle in the 3800 block of Magnolia Street.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
Officers were dispatched to Magnolia Street shortly after noon Sunday, said Shawn Vaughn, TTPD spokesman. Officers found the victim lying in the street with obvious injuries.

Houston drivers could soon face $100 fines for parking in bike lanes

Drivers who park in Houston’s bike lanes soon could face a $100 fine.
City council on Wednesday is set to consider an ordinance allowing for fines when people park in or otherwise block the lanes, disrupting cyclists’ traffic. Currently, fines are allowed only when there are nearby “no parking†signs.
“There was nothing in the code that said you can’t park in a bike lane,†said Maria Irshad, assistant director of the city’s ParkHouston.

D’Ajani Jamal Daniels, 29, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance-less than one gram, according to an affidavit. KPD officers were dispatched to a report of a stolen bicycle. The suspect fled when located, first on the bicycle and then on foot until officers detained him at gunpoint. He was later identified as Daniels and found to be in possession of a bag with a controlled substance, which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
