Some Safe Routes to School discussion… for some midsize Texas cities (examples include Abilene and Lubbock, where we've already looked at this), a 2-mile radius from every elementary school covers most of the city with safe routes.

Audience Q: has anywhere in Texas responded to the current bike boom with new infrastructure?
Answer: in places where things are happening quickly right now, it's mainly been because the need/funding was already identified. Process hasn't sped up even with increased bike use.

One thing we like to do, which has been successful, is find good examples within Texas and use those examples for other cities, especially cities that are similar to one another.
