Made My Goal – Bike Ride Oakhurst – Valley Ranch
Before the start of today’s bike ride I needed 27 miles to reach my 700 mile goal for September. I chose the “Oakhurst – Valley Ranch” route. Starting later at 1:49 PM, after church, I rode my Lynskey R300 bike for a total of 27.41 miles putting me past my goal. In addition my week total came in at 123.58 miles, not bad considering not biking 3 days due to the wet weather from TS Beta.
Where I stand for the month. With 3 potential biking days left I have a shot at making up the 54 miles I was short on my August goal.
Wind from the south was strong today at the start: 8 mph with 18 mph gusts. With the sun out the temperature stayed at 90 degrees from the start until the 3:52 PM finish. That wind was a tailwind until I rode out of Valley Ranch onto the US59 southbound frontage road where the headwind awaited. Biking south to Northpark Drive into the wind was hard but I managed to keep my speed above 15 mph thanks to the trees on my left. Tomorrow a cold front arrives in the morning to noon. I hope the temperature doesn’t drop below 60.
Speed average 14.0mi/h max 21.9mi/h
Heart Rate average 128bpm max 153bpm
Cadence average 76 max 104
Power average 116W max 500W
I think 500 watts was from riding into the wind.
Tonight I move the Favero pedals back to my Canyon Endurace bike for tomorrow’s ride.
