Bike Races, Waited On Rain to Leave, Cool and Humid Biking Kingwood Streets
Checking the weather radar after seeing the damp driveway I delayed the start of today’s bike ride until 11:46 AM. With rain in the area I decided to ride the Kingwood streets to be close to shelter or home if rain found me. In order to keep up the pace to reach my 700 mile goal for September I rode 29.44 miles today on my Canyon Endurace bike. This also helped keep me on path to a 200 mile week at 73.75 miles so far. This is where I stand with my month’s goal.
I am ahead by 2 days which may come into play with the potential rain in the forecast for the next day or two. It was overcast, humid but not too hot during today’s bike ride with “start 85 (70% humidity, 73.8 dew point), overcast, wind S 9 mph. Finish 87 (71% humidity, 76.1 dew point), overcast, wind S 7 mph.” The northern part of the route showed signs of recent rain with puddles but to the south all was dry.
There was two bike races to watch before the ride: stage 2 of the 2020 Tirreno Adriatico and stage 10 of the Tour de France. Watching both at the same time can be challenging but thankfully the 2020 Tirreno Adriatico ended before the Tour.
Experimenting with my GoPro cameras I mounted the Hero 7 Silver on my helmet and used the Hero 7 Black as my handheld camera. I wondered how the sound would be without the mic adapter and lapel mic. The sound came through except for the beginning but the mic is clearer. When I ride the Canyon Endurace the camera mount below the computer mount is awkward to press the record button and the mic cable can get in the way. I will use the helmet mount for a few days to get more video before deciding. The Hero 7 Silver weighs less than the Hero 7 Black reducing the weight on the helmet.
The Bolt computer worked perfectly on today’s ride. I got approval to return it for warranty replacement and will send it back. I am thinking the day it went berserk I rode in the rain and water gathered on the three buttons maybe causing the problem. After drying out it started working, maybe. I received my backup Lezyne computer this morning and will use it while waiting on the replacement Bolt. It will be an opportunity to compare the computers.
