No Greenway Crowd After Rain
After the early morning rain I wasn’t sure if the roads would dry soon enough for me to go biking. But after watching stage 2 of the Tour de Wallonie and checking the weather radar the streets were dry and the rain clouds gone. Getting ready I rolled my Lynskey R300 bike out the door and punched the Bolt start button at 11:08 AM, much later than I planned. Because my biking schedule looked strange the rest of the week I wanted to ride at least 40 miles and chose to ride the Spring Creek Greenway. I ended up biking 42.33 miles, slightly less than my usual due to not going all the way to I-45 but turning around at Dennis Johnston Park. This was the 7th time to ride Spring Creek Greenway in 2020. Those 7 times break down to 5 on my Lynskey R300 and 2 on my Canyon Endurace. Of note, on today’s bike ride my Lynskey R300 odometer rolled to 2012 miles. A summary of the 7 bike rides.
The greenway traffic wasn’t busy today. I don’t know if the rain, school starting, or Monday had anything to do with that. A few bikers passed going the opposite direction going to Dennis Johnston Park and on the way back to the US59 trailhead. My timing for catching them with the GoPro was off. They would come around a bend in the trail or I would be looking to the side and not press the record button soon enough.
With the cooler weather I rode a good pace on the greenway plus I had a deadline to finish. My legs felt up to the task and Strava recorded 4 new personal records. With all the people riding the greenway numerous segments exist showing up in the ride summary below.
Weather at the start and 2:33 PM finish: start 74 (99% humidity, 74 dew point), overcast, wind calm. Finish 91 (63% humidity, 76.3 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind variable 4 mph. The high humidity at the start turned my arm sleeves into warmers but later as the sun came through the clouds they blocked the sun. With all of the trees it felt cooler longer than I expected.
I stopped at John Pundt Park on the way back for a short rest break to a Clif Bar and took this photo.
Normally when I stop here a couple of bikers pass but none today.
My goal for August suffered a little because I took a rest day yesterday but I am getting closer. A recap of where I stand.
