August Biking Delayed Until Hot and Dry
I waited until the 2nd day of August to start biking due to rain yesterday. That allowed me to do some chores but puts me behind on reaching my 800 mile goal for August. Today the bike ride started at 1:27 PM and finished at 3:48 PM. The later start came after attending church. With a shorter time period to ride I chose the “Atascocita – Walden – E. Lake Houston Parkway” route going 30.65 miles. While this routes travels on the same roads that are part of other of my routes the last time I rode this particular route was February 16th, 2020. Today was the 3rd time in 2020.
After missing yesterday my week’s total came in at 187.18 miles, the second week in a row below 200 miles. I could’ve biked 15 miles yesterday but didn’t. The weather forecast for the coming week looks rain free which will help bike 200+ miles. A summary of the week’s rides.
Friday I received my warranty replacement Hero 7 Black camera from GoPro and today was the first ride to check it out. The ride was short but the temperature was 90 but the camera didn’t freeze. Tomorrow I will go longer to see if time and heat causes it to freeze. I hope not.
It felt cooler on today’s bike ride even though the temperature was 90. I think the lower humidity and dew point contributed to that. Weather: start 91 (63% humidity, 77 dew point), partly cloudy, wind variable 5 mph. Finish 90 (60% humidity, 74.7 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind W 4 mph. I thought with the later start I would feel the heat more but moving through the light breeze helped cooling.
