Hot Under The Collar, Beating The Heat Advisory Bike Ride to Tavola
A heat advisory was to take effect at noon today so I tried to start the bike ride a little earlier. The Canyon Endurace CF SLX and I rolled out the driveway at 9:27 AM to being the “New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch” route. The ride ended up at 35.07 miles long when I finished at 12:13 PM. Today I did not run out of ice water thankfully. This route is one I do frequently with this one number 14 for the year.
The week totals 189.48 miles putting me in position to hit 200+ for the week with Saturday’s bike ride. Due to the heat (forecast calls for 100+ degrees) on Sunday I will make that a rest day. I would ride after noon when I get home from church, the hottest part of the day. I am up to 348.49 miles for July, 44% of the way to my 800 mile goal.
The temperature at the start came in at 90 degrees but the wind was light so the convection oven effect didn’t kick in just yet. Weather at the start and finish: start 90 (76% humidity, 81.2 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 7 mph. Finish 95 (59% humidity, 78.2 dew point), partly cloudy, wind S 6 mph. The heat index was over 100 when I finished. Some weather snap shots.
