Encountering Other Cyclists Under A Blue Sky
After yesterday’s bike ride in Galveston today I was back in familiar territory to bike. Starting at 8:33 AM I rode the “Atascocita – Huffman – Walden” route wanting to ride at least 22 miles to mark 200+ miles this week. I did that by biking 31.77 miles which put the week’s total at 210.31 miles and June at 443.18 miles well on my way to reaching the 800 mile goal.
The reason I ride this route each Saturday is to see other cyclists out biking. Today I captured a few in the video and missed about as many. Near the end of the ride as I waited to cross W. Lake Houston Parkway a pace line of 6 to 8 cyclists passed quickly going south before I could turn the GoPro on. I haven’t seen a pace line on W. Lake Houston Parkway in quite a while.
Since the front passed through on Wednesday the weather has been fabulous for biking. Today was no exception. Weather at the start and finish of today’s ride: start 77 (71% humidity, 67.2 dew point), a few clouds, wind N 6 mph. Finish 87 (47% humidity, 64.0 dew point), a few clouds, wind NE 9 mph. Starting at 8:33 AM I thought it might be cooler than I am comfortable with but the temperature moved and my arm sleeves kept me above my chill zone. By the 10:52 AM finish no thoughts of chill, just enjoying the wonderful blue sky, light wind and pedaling.
Today’s ride marked the 7th time on this route in 2020 and the least miles but not by much. All 7 rides have been on the Canyon Endurace bike.
