Houston BCycle, the city’s nonprofit-run bike share program, is currently embarking on a massive expansion project funded by Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis.
The $850,000 proposal will include 30 stations, 320 bikes, and 100 pedal-assist e-bikes (click here to read more from the Chronicle). The new stations will fundamentally improve accessibility to Houston BCycle for those living in underserved communities, and the pedal-assist bikes will serve to bring new populations into bike sharing––especially those who are unable to pedal the heavier, standard model.

It has been a wild first month as Interim ED at BikeHouston. It is not an exaggeration to say that Houston is undergoing a bicycling renaissance! Bike stores are still selling out, Houston bike-share numbers are sky high, and the bayou trails are packed (we need more trails and lanes)!
