Lynskey R300 For Two, Bringing Some Heat, Visiting A Past Biking Buddy
With 8 days into June biking I thought I would’ve ridden today’s route more than just 2 times this year but that is the case. On top of that, both times were on my Lynskey R300 bike. This was the second day in a row that I rode the Lynskey R300 which I don’t normally do. Today’s bike ride started at 10:32 AM and lasted 2:56:19 riding time finishing at 2:10 PM covering 41.34 miles. A good start to the week’s biking. I wanted to start earlier but just couldn’t get out the door.
Part of the reason I wanted to start earlier was the high temperature forecast of mid to upper 90’s. Another reason was I needed to get back in time for a late afternoon appointment. The weather during the bike ride: start 90 (68% humidity, 78 dew point), partly cloudy, wind W 9 mph. Finish 95 (55% humidity, 76.7 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind NW 9 mph. It was a good idea to use the CamelBak for water with the heat and longer bike ride. I stopped at Buster Brown Propane in New Caney to visit with Mark Peterson and this time he was there. We talked about biking in the past, the present and how the propane business is doing.
After that stop the next one was a short break to eat a Clif Bar to power me back home. Just before that stop I took these pictures of the Lynskey R300 and the Valley Ranch flower.
With the Clif Bar and somewhat rested legs I set off to finish the ride. The clouds seemed to increase as I neared Kingwood, probably from Tropical Storm Cristobal in Louisiana. Later driving to my appointment it was raining in a small area; glad I didn’t get caught there.
No GoPro video freezes today and the audio recorded good too. This doesn’t support my heat theory on yesterday’s freezes. It was hotter today and the ride was today was 20 miles longer.
The PowerPod charts show the power and other data but I look closer at the wind, the second graph from the top with blue and white lines. Blue below the white line means tailwind and blue above shows headwind. I enjoyed both today. Biking to Splendora with the tailwind was nice and the headwind coming back had some tall spikes causing me to pedal harder.
