PLANO, Texas — Shannon Catalano will never forget the day her grandmother asked for a bike ride.
The Plano resident, 41, said her late grandmother, Margie Wood, suffered from dementia and spent the last part of her life in memory care.

Abilene Founder Lions Club to donate bikes to children with disabilities

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — Some kids and adults in Abilene are getting a new set of wheels thanks to the Abilene Founder Lions Clubs.
The organization has been awarded a $55,000 grant to help give bikes to children and adults with disabilities.
One of the recipients is 10-year-old Crayton Rains, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, suffering a stroke just 45 minutes after he was born.
“Developmentally he was behind,†said Crayton’s mother, Lacey Rains.

This ride is for beginner/intermediate riders. It is easy terrain, but a long ride and we cross a major intersection. This ride is almost eight miles in and back out. The trail is paved, mostly wooded, and has some slight inclines in elevation.
At a pace of 6-10 MPH, the ride will last about an hour. We will enter the trail from the parking lot off Saums, between Barker Cypress and Greenhouse. The trail crosses Barker Cypress and we will continue to Highway 6 where we turn around and bike out. Until we get to Daylight Savings Time, we need to start at 5 pm so we are done by 6 pm.
