Bike Ride to SH 242, 75 Degrees Not A Normal January Day
Choosing the “Kingwood – SH 242 – Kingwood” route I started at 11:49 AM under partly cloudy skies and 73 degrees. I wore shorts, thermal long sleeve jersey, and jacket. This kept me comfortable most of the bike ride except for a few times when I rode in the shade for long time.
The ride to SH 242 enjoyed a 9 mph tailwind but I knew at the SH 242 turn around the ride back to Kingwood required more effort due to the headwind. Sometimes the headwind isn’t that bad but today it seemed stronger than the 9 mph the weather app reported when I finished at 2:46 PM.
I biked 37.24 miles putting January’s total 164.58 miles, 103.9 miles on the road and 60.7 miles in Zwift. I thought it would be reversed but the weather enabled me to ride more miles outdoors in fewer rides than I Zwifted indoors. I am ahead of schedule to reach my January goals but behind on my YTD road miles; 35% of my 300 mile road January goal and 61% of my 100 mile virtual biking January goal.
School did not resume today like I thought it would. This allowed children to be outside and some of them rode bikes, scooters, and electric replica cars.
Due to other commitments and time limits Tuesday will be a Zwifting day no matter what the weather does.
