Girl On A Hover Board, Damp Dew Point Biking To E. Lake Houston Parkway
An overcast sky and the remnants of heavy fog hung around delaying the start of today’s bike ride until 11:32 AM. With the high dew point the streets looked wet without raining. I chose the “Atascocita – Walden – E. Lake Houston Parkway” route though when I started I planned on riding the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route. I changed my mind when the headwind getting to Walden slowed me down making it difficult to get back home at the time I wanted. I biked 27.42 miles putting my week’s total at 104.7 miles, December now totals 485.72 miles (281.3 miles on the road, 204.4 miles Zwifting). Year to date stands at 8,156 miles; 7,583 road miles and 573 virtual miles. 2019 miles are the most I ever biked in a year.
Weather while biked: start 71.4 (90% humidity, 68.3 dew point), overcast, wind SE 7 mph. Finish 75.7 (80% humidity, 69.1 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 12 mph. My wardrobe reflected the warmth: shorts, thermal long sleeve jersey topped with a short sleeve jersey. I felt comfortable most of the ride except when I crossed Lake Houston on FM 1960 and the wind chilled as it blew over the colder water. The dew point was close to the temperature keeping my water bottle wet from the ice chilled water being colder than the dew point.
Early in the ride I saw a young girl delicately balancing on an electric hover board. I forgot to get it on video but as I rode by her I asked if the board was a new Christmas present and she said yes. I hope she gets more confidence and skill. It looks hard to balance to me.
Later a man was jogging along FM 1960 when I stopped at the traffic light on Pinehurst Trail Drive. I waved hello. Later I saw him on the causeway over Lake Houston running to the east. I thought I would pass him when I turned around at E Lake Houston Parkway and headed back west but he disappeared. I planned on asking how he ran.
My glue repair on the GoPro mount came through the ride making me think I can trust it to hold the GoPro Hero7 I use during rides. Gorilla glue did the trick.
Sunday a cool front arriving early in the morning means cooler weather but lots of sun. Not sure if it will be warm enough to ride outdoors after going to church. If not Zwifting will be the option.
