Cool Sunny Bike Ride to Huffman But With A Loss
After three days of Zwifting it was time to get back on the real road. Getting a later start following church I rode out at 12:32 PM on the “Atascocita – Huffman” route. I skipped biking through Walden for a change. A number of years ago I started going through Walden on this route and never changed because it added a mile to the ride. Today I biked 31.13 miles. The week’s total came in at 186.61 miles including the three days of Zwifting. November stands at 256.5 miles, 204 miles to reach my 460 mile goal.
Weather during the bike ride: start 72 (60% humidity, 57.3 dew point), partly cloudy, wind S 6 mph. Finish 72 (63% humidity, 58.5 dew point), partly cloudy, wind S 13 mph. I opted for a regular long sleeve jersey and a windbreaker jacket. Because I am a temperature wimp a thermal long sleeve jersey would have been better. The wind increase during the ride and the shade chilled me at times. I looked at the weather around Texas in the paper this morning and longed for Brownsville where it was going to be 80+ degrees.
Somewhere along the route my Niterider Sentinel taillight jumped off the bracket. I guess I didn’t push it down securely enough and one of the many bumps threw it off. I may ride the same route tomorrow to look for it but I don’t hold much hope of finding it. Time to buy another one. The brightness and rechargeable battery were good features. I just need to mount it better. I bought a new seat bag to allow room for the bracket and light and I don’t want to ride without it.
I almost forgot the video from the bike ride. Zwifting affects the mind.
Many the coolness upped my effort today causing Strava to report “This was harder than your usual effort.” I didn’t think I was working harder.
Monday weather looks favorable for biking but Tuesday another cold front moves in so back to Zwift probably.
