In Front of The Gate on Zwift The Herd’s Saturday Rehabilitation Group Ride (D)
It was a little too chilly (51 degrees) for me to ride outside today so I checked Zwift and found the Zwift The Herd’s Saturday Rehabilitation Group Ride (D) starting at 11:10 AM. That gave me 30 minutes to get ready.
I thought I had everything ready but after the ride started I looked down to get a drink and found the item I forgot, my water bottle. Maybe I could ride the 60 minutes without water but it turned out I found a place to run to the kitchen and get the bottle.
The ride is “gated” meaning that if you go faster than the leader and don’t get back behind the gate within a minute you leave the ride. Somehow I missed the gate and got in front of it (I wasn’t the only one). That is when I stopped and went to the kitchen for water hoping the gate would catch and I would not leave the ride. I saw a message that said 120 riders got in front of the gate and removed from the ride. When I got back with the water it appeared the gate did not pass while I was gone and now I was on my own.
It was a rehab ride and I continued on my own passing some riders while others passed me. Screenshots from the ride.
For the week I biked 155.48 miles and for November 225.36 miles. The month’s breakdown: 152.6 miles on the road and 72.7 miles in Zwift virtual miles.
Sunday the weather should warm up and I plan on biking outdoors.
