Real Bike Ride With A Car Show Walk Through
After two days of virtual rides on Zwift today the ride took place on real concrete and asphalt with actual wind rather than a fan blowing on me . The car show was an added bonus.
After two days of virtual rides on Zwift today the ride took place on real concrete and asphalt. The car show was an added bonus. The ride started later after church which gave the weather time to warm up a few degrees. Wheels down came at 12:41 PM following the “Atascocita – Walden – E. Lake Houston Parkway” route for a total of 29.11 miles. Those miles put the week’s total at 211.98 miles, the third week in a row of 200+ miles. October now totals 388.92 miles, 311 miles away from my goal of 700 miles. Year to date I am at 6,656 miles, 144 miles short of my 6,800 mile goal.
The outfit for today’s ride conceded to the cooler weather: shorts, long sleeve jersey with a short sleeve jersey on the top. Weather during the bike ride: start 74 (52% humidity, 55.1 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind NE 7 mph. Finish 78 (59% humidity, 62.8 dew point), partly cloudy, wind W 4 mph. Thank goodness the wind was light or it would have felt cooler. If we get more cold nights riding over Lake Houston will be tough with the colder water chilling the wind as it blows across.
Even with the cooler weather it felt great riding, pushing the pedals up what inclines we have around here. Strava labeled the, “This was easier than your usual effort.” I got my average speed up to 13.9 mph which is decent for this route due to the stops and starts, lack of long uninterrupted segments, and less miles than usual. The Relive app produced this animation of the ride.

This video shows clips from along the ride route including three walks of the car show at Town Center Park in Kingwood.
Monday’s weather forecast includes a 60% chance of morning rain which if it happens puts me back in the virtual riding world.
I found the solution to my tech snafu with Zwift and my second phone. The second phone was on a different wi-fi network so it couldn’t see my computer running the Zwift program. Once I got that fixed it worked. (I have a “Guest” wireless network on my router which the second phone connected to.)
