Solitude Biking Through The Fields of Grass
With the weather changing slightly I know fall is here. Wheels rolled at 11:38 AM, later than I planned, when I began biking the “Stroker Road – Huffman” route. I wanted to ride at least 40 miles and ended up biking 43.09 miles. I needed these miles if I want to reach my 700 mile September goal. After today’s ride I stand at 580.07 miles for the month, 120 miles short. With 4 days left I need to average 30 miles per day. This week I rode 150.06 miles so far and YTD 6,178 miles.
Weather during the bike ride: start 91 (61% humidity, 75.4 dew point), partly cloudy, wind SE 4 mph. Finish 90 (51% humidity, 69.4 dew point), a few clouds, wind E 5 mph. With the slightly lower temperature arm sleeves don’t get salty.
My narrative in the video points out some of my observations about the roads that flooded last Thursday and remained covered when I tired to ride them last Saturday. The clue to high water lies with the bent over grass and debris hanging from fences. I wonder how some of the houses fared on Ramsey Road. They look low enough to the ground but no debris outside pointing to flooding.
I passed the Kingwood Farmers Market in Town Center Park on the way back home. I need to stop there and check out what they sell. I rode on though and finished the ride at 3:22 PM.
The chance of rain creeps up Saturday but Friday looks like a day to ride. I need to ride to reach my goal.
