July Bike Rides End On High Level: Goal Exceeded
Great bike ride to wrap up July biking. I chose the “New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch” route and rode 34.58 miles. This put July’s total at 958.03 miles, 158 miles over my goal. Start time was 11:16 AM in time to catch the warm part of the day and finished at 2:04 PM before it hits peak heat.
A recap of July’s rides. I biked 27 out of 31 days. Average ride distance was 35.48 miles. Longest ride was 48.43 miles on the Spring Creek Greenway July 1st.
Today’s bike ride weather: start 88 (76% humidity, 79.7 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 5 mph. Finish 94 (59% humidity, 77.4 dew point), partly cloudy, wind N 8 mph.
In Tavola I stopped at the community center and pool to take these photos.
I stopped for ice and water two times: Shell station on Roman Forest Blvd. and Stripes on FM 1314.
Thanks to a modest tailwind the ride back from Tavola to Kingwood hit a higher speed pulling my average up to 13.9 mph before dropping as I entered Kings Manor and into Kingwood.
The weather will continue into August as will my riding. My August goal is 800 miles.
