Bicyclist dies after being hit by 18-wheeler in southwest Houston

HOUSTON — A bicyclist is dead after being hit by an 18-wheeler in southwest Houston.
This happened on the northbound side of the Southwest Freeway frontage road near Gessner.
The bicyclist was taken to a hospital and later died.
One person was detained at the scene but it was not immediately clear what charges might be filed.
Multiple feeder road lanes are blocked in the area.

The world’s longest charity bike ride made its way through the Border City this week in a cross-country fight against cancer. The Texas 4000 sees dozens of students from the University of Texas travel one of three routes from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska each year.

RICHARDSON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – A pair of suspected burglars are behind bars in Richardson after a bicycle officer on patrol around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, noticed something amiss.
