Dark Clouds But No Rain Bike Ride
I didn’t realize when I started today’s bike ride that I headed toward the rain. I pulled out of the driveway at 9:21 AM to bike on the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route. The route totaled 31.92 miles putting the week and month at 109.45 miles.
Weather during the bike ride: start 85 (80% humidity, 77.8 dew point), partly cloudy, wind S 5 mph. Finish 86 (77% humidity, 77.7 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 8 mph.
As I rode south the dark sky in the southeast got closer and closer. I thought the route would skirt around those clouds when I made the left turn onto FM 2100 north but on the way there a few rain drops hit me on Old Atascocita Road. As I headed to Huffman I saw the dark clouds in my rearview mirror probably accentuated by my dark sunglasses.
A quick stop at the Huffman Chevron and I rode west on FM 1960 with the dark clouds behind and to the left. At the west side of Lake Houston I saw some dark clouds to the north as well. On Atasccocita Shores Drive I sped up thinking of beating the possible rain. Back in Kingwood I slowed down to navigate the streets and traffic keeping an eye on the dark clouds finishing the ride at 11:48 AM.
Thursday I will plan on biking.
