Success! Construction Starts On Hardy And Elysian

BikeHouston initiated the Build 50 Challenge last year in late April. We challenged the City of Houston, Harris County, Metro, Houston Parks Board, and others to work together to build 50 miles of bikeway in 12 months. Since then, Mayor Sylvester Turner and Commissioner Rodney Ellis agreed to the challenge and both city and county have been racing to develop a bikeways program since. So where are we?
Currently almost 28 miles are under construction or complete across the city. Most of this mileage came from the Houston Parks Board developing mixed-use trails along our Bayou Greenways. Below you’ll find an overview of on-street improvements in the core of our city. …

HOUSTON – A man whose only mode of transportation is his bicycle asked for the public’s help Sunday to find the driver who damaged it in a hit-and-run crash last month.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are searching for a north Austin bank robbery suspect who fled on a bicycle Monday morning, officials said.
The robbery was reported at 9:21 a.m. at a Bank of America at the 7900 block of Shoal Creek Boulevard.
APD officer Bino Cardenas said responding officers were told the robbery suspect had fled on a bicycle. The bank manager told police, "the suspect entered, demanded money and brandished a handgun," Cardenas said. …
