Many of Texas A&M’s nearly 70,000 students use bikes on campus to get to their destination, so learning the rules and laws about cycling is crucial.
Blake Hosler, a mechanical engineering sophomore, was hit by a car last semester while riding his bike across a crosswalk on campus. While he was not seriously injured, Hosler said the experience helped him learn more about bike safety. …
Department of Public Safety’s New Policy Aimed at Creating Safer Roadways for the Baylor Campus Community

WACO, Texas (Jan. 31, 2019) – Baylor’s Department of Public Safety recently approved a new Traffic, Transportation and Parking Policy for the University. One of the most notable inclusions in the policy is the prohibition of texting while driving or cycling on campus unless hands-free technology is used.
Already a law under the Texas Transportation Code, no texting while driving is now an offense on Baylor’s roadways as well and may result in a Baylor citation. …

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) – A bicyclist killed in a collision with a Capital Metro bus has been identified as 39-year-old Anthony John Diaz. Diaz was a U.S. Navy veteran and long-time FOX 7 Austin employee who friends and coworkers knew as Tony.
Monday night, Tony finished his shift at FOX 7 Austin and jumped on his bicycle.

This is an informal, leader led ride, at an easy pace (Ride speed: 11 – 14 mph ) for those who want to see parts of Houston and many of its special places by bike. The rest stop will be at one of the city’s independent coffee houses, so if you like coffee, and want to ride through some interesting neighborhoods, this is the ride for you. Total distance is between 20 and 25 miles. The forecast is looking good, partly cloudy and comfortable temperatures.
The ride starts at Stude Park on Usener St. near Michaux St. The nearest large cross streets are White Oak and Studemont.
