Man on bicycle struck and killed by car in Port Arthur

PORT ARTHUR — Port Arthur Police are investigating a fatal collision between a driver and a man riding a bicycle.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting an accident involving a vehicle and a man on a bicycle at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 10000 block of the US 69 feeder road in Port Arthur.
The bicyclist was struck and thrown off of the bicycle. He landed in the grass median.
The victim was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas where he died from his injuries.
Investigators aren’t releasing the man’s name until they notify his relatives.
Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett has ordered an autopsy.
Midland City Council discusses amended ordinance to protect bicyclists and runners

MIDLAND, Texas (BIG 2 / FOX 24) – West Texas roads have not been kind to bicyclists or pedestrians, and the City of Midland is no exception.
On Tuesday morning, City Council members listened to a proposed amended ordinance spearheaded by Councilwoman Sharla Hotchkiss.
Since 2017, the city says MPD has responded to 42 bicycle involved crashes and 133 pedestrian involved crashes. …
