Teen bicyclist rescued from high waters in Leon Creek

An 18-year-old man was swept away by high waters in Leon Creek early Thursday while mountain biking on nearby trails, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the rescue at about 4 a.m. along the Leon Creek Greenway North and began searching for the victim.

Helicopter, ATV and boat units all responded, but firefighters were able to locate him before the search units were needed.
Longhorn Dam bike/ped bridge public meeting – 11/13 @ Fiesta Gardens

The City began Preliminary Engineering in July 2018 and is currently identifying needs and issues for the construction of a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge crossing Lady Bird Lake near Longhorn Dam. A public meeting will be held to collect feedback on needs and potential interim improvements for Longhorn Bridge.

League of American Bicyclists Instructor Training

The League of American Bicyclists is conducting a League Cycling Instructor training at the Houston-Galveston Area Council offices, Conference Room B, Second Floor from Friday, November 30, to Sunday, December 2.
The training certifies instructors to teach Smart Cycling classes to children and adults to help them become more confident, safe, and intelligent cyclists.
The deadline to register is November 10, 2018. You must be a member of the League of American Bicyclists to register, and can become a member by visiting their website.
