Texas State athlete pushes toward Paralympics

A Texas State senior is going into his third year of training for the 2020 Paralympics, all with no mobility of his feet.
Matthew Pevoto, recreation therapy senior, was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at birth. This condition is a congenital defect of the spine which can result in paralysis. Pevoto has had no mobility or feeling in his feet his entire life. However, he still has the ability to walk and run with the assistance of crutches.

Like many U.S. cities, Austin has experienced an influx of transportation options over the last year, as dockless scooters and e-bikes have flooded streets. Not only has active-transportation advocate Katie Deolloz embraced the new modes, now the car-free Austinite uses dockless services almost exclusively to get around.

The 34th annual Skittles Waco Wild West 100 ride has been canceled because of flooding on the route.
Packet pickup will still be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bicycle World, 112 Mary Ave., so people who registered can get their T-shirt, medal, glass and jersey if one was ordered. Candy and refreshments will also be available. Portions of entry fees will still go to Be the Match and other local charities.
