Drug Drop Bike Ride
I chose the “Atascocita – Huffman – Walden” route because I had a bag of prescription drugs to drop off at the Kingwood Park and Ride during the National Drug Give Back Day. Riding the 2.5 miles there with a heavy bag hanging from the left handlebar reminded me how much balancing goes into riding. Fortunately the bag hung far enough away from the fork that I didn’t have any problem but it was much better after I dropped the bag off.
Starting at 12:03 pm I didn’t expect to see any other cyclists especially with many of them riding the MS150. (Tweets and photos in tonigh’s news digest). An I did not see anyone.
Weather was gorgeous for the ride: start 83 (43% humidity), clear, wind S 7 mph. Finish 83 (41% humidity), clear, wind calm. My clothing choice: shorts and short sleeve jersey with sunscreen. Time to get some tan on the “winter” arms.
As I rode the route my mind drifted to thinking how close to the gulf Houston is and the beach feel in the weather. The sun was bright and the wind was light.
No stops along the way other than the drug drop off. No need with my pace not that high. I was treating this as a recovery day.
This is the first week in April of biking over 200 miles with 217.79 miles so far. Still met my mileage goal and one day left in the week. 19 biking days so far in April.
Sunday weather should repeat today.
