High School Football Playoff Bike Ride
Another late fall weather day in southeast Texas. How could I stay inside? I activated the DVR to record the second half of the University of Cincinnati vs. Xavier basketball game in order to go biking. Now I have to stay away from Twitter until I watch it.
Starting at 12:33 PM (delayed watching the first half of the game) I rode north on the “Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood” route for a total of 27.4 miles. bumping December to 62 miles total. Year to date I am at 7,361 miles only 70 miles away from the “stretch’ goal of 7,430 miles.
The weather: 74 degrees at the start, 77 degrees at the end (2:32 PM), mostly cloudy sky, light breeze 4 mph from the southeast.
Wardrobe: long and short sleeve jerseys, bike shorts.
I was a little chilly at the start but within a few miles the body heat took over and it was comfortable from then on.
The bike ride went smoothly. When I turned right onto Valley Ranch Parkway up ahead I saw the Texan Drive Stadium with many cars and people in the stands with the announcer coming over the loudspeakers. High school football playoffs are happening and if my memory is right from the reading the sports section this was between Lufkin HS and Westfield HS. I took this photo.
The game was underway but people were still arriving as I took the photo. The bands were playing too.
Sunday’s weather forecast has some rain in it and we sure do need some. With the Houston Texans playing I will be at home watching. Back biking on Monday or Tuesday when the rain leaves.
