Sunday Streets steps onto one of Houston’s most diverse neighborhoods

Volunteers with BikeHouston create a temporary protected bike lane along Bellaire near Renwick during Houston Sunday Streets on Sunday.
Sunday was the first time Tim Nguyen said he felt totally safe making his weekly trip to the grocery store. It’s because he had a lot of company, when Houston Sunday Streets rolled out in Gulfton.
“This is just great,” Nguyen said as he looked at the scene of cyclists and stroller-pushers along Bellaire near Hillcroft. “All these people. It’s not like this (normally).”
