The routes are almost exclusively hard packed gravel roads through the scenic Red River Valley. The course is marked and water tables/aid stations placed throughout the route. Disabled children thrilled by new biking program

This year at Sicolvia, the Believe It Foundation rolled out a new bike program to get children with physical disabilities off the sidelines and enjoy the thrill of riding a bike.

Ten years ago a 140-square foot garage opened its doors to the San Marcos community and started The Bike Cave. Owned and operated by students, it has proven the lasting impact one group of concerned self-starters can have on campus.

Japanese couple biking around world makes stop in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas – Traveling the world to spread peace and positivity.
21-year-old Satoru Yamada and his wife Akina are from Tokyo, Japan. They’re “hitch-biking” around the world and made a stop in El Paso this week.
Satoru started his journey at the age of 18. He hitch-hiked from Japan to Iran. Then bicycled in the winter from Iran to Norway, before taking a $100 flight to the United Sates. He then biked to Canada, where he met his wife, also from Tokyo and a world traveler.

November 4th is the Tour of Dallas. Alex, our President, will be making his return to cycling at this event, followed by a celebration lunch at The Ginger Man bistro on Boll St in Dallas. I will not be riding the Tour, but will be riding to the lunch to join in on the celebration.
You are welcome to join me. Here are the particulars of my ride:
Pace: Novice
Distance: 14 miles, each way
Route: 12 miles of bike trails and 2 miles of roads, each way. See attached map.
Start location: Valley View Park, Valley View Ln and Hillcrest. Far eastern parking lot off of Valley View
Start time: Meet at 9:15 am and wheels down at 9:30 am
Extras: Bring cash or plastic for lunch and a bike lock (we can lock the bikes together if you do not have one)
Ride leader: Chris Mathews
Weather: Current forecast is for cloudy skies and morning lows in the mid 50’s. Peachy.
