Overcast Sky Replaced A Blue Sky Bike Ride
I have been battling with Google to get a replacement phone order to stick. I enter the order and then 15 minutes they cancel it. To vent some of my frustration I went on a 37.5 mile bike ride following the “New Caney – Gene Campbell Road” route to the north and west. The blue sky left and overcast moved in as the wind shifted from the NE to the SW. The temperature was steady at 84 degrees. I started late (12:13 PM) due to long phone calls with Google and I didn’t realize this would put me in some school zones during dismissal times. But I made through the traffic finishing the ride at 3:20 PM.
Another battle late last night was fixing another website I run that was infected with a redirect piece of code. WordPress is great but finding all of the nooks and crannies code can hide in takes time. It was after 1 AM when I finally flushed out the culprit. Then I got up at my usual early time intending to watch Grand Prix de Wallonie on Cycling.TV but ended up with Google taking my attention. I did see the winner cross the finish line though.
The ride went well with the wind helping me ride north and then punishing me when I turned to the west. With the PowerPod not pumping out watts numbers on the Elemnt computer I focused on average speed and staying above as much as possible. I was able to get it up to 14.9 mph and hold it there for several miles.
Stopping at the Valero station on FM 1314 and Sorters Road I took a 25 minute break to eat a couple of fruit and grain bars washed down with orange flavored Gatorade. The love bugs were flying around making the rest not so enjoyable. I thought they should make a good meal for the grackles but they weren’t around when you need them.
The ride to finish from the Valero traveled roads I have been on many times. Not much happened and I made my way through Kingwood.
