Brothers biked coast to coast

REGION – Three brothers with one goal and two charities rode their bicycles through the Lake Region last week. While on a 3,500-bike ride, Dennis, Bobby and Raleigh Jenkins traveled from Seattle to New York City averaging 70 miles a day, rain or shine over the course of 50 plus days, driven to raise awareness and funds for two charities that they hold dear to their hearts.

TEXAS 4000: Cyclists stop in Lincoln City

On what organizers call the longest annual charity bicycle ride in the world, the Texas 4000 team rolled through Lincoln City on Saturday July 15, just 43 days after departing from Austin, Texas on their way to Anchorage, Alaska.

The Tour de Goatneck Bike Ride celebrates its 30th anniversary on July 29 when it welcomes about 2,000 riders to Cleburne.

Williamson County pledges more than $30,000 to clean air program

In the wake of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott vetoing a bill and slashing state funding for local air quality programs, The Williamson County Commissioners Court unanimously voted Tuesday to pay more than $30,000 to the Capital Area Council of Governments’ air quality program.
In June, Abbott signed Texas’ two-year budget and slashed roughly $120 million in funding for various environmental programs in the process. About $6 million of that money was cut from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s air quality program, a portion of which was intended for CAPCOG’s Regional Air Quality Program.
