Super Powered Legs Bike Ride
After a forced day off from biking yesterday due to rain I am back on the bike riding the “Atascocita – Huffman – Walden” route for 33.5 miles. I started early at 9:12 and finished at 11:47 due to an appointment late in the afternoon. The rain started Sunday evening and stayed around until after noon on Monday. By the time the streets dried off it was late enough to stay home. I took time to do a few things for my wife, update some records in Strava.com and a few other things.
I didn’t expect to see any other bikers but the first two were riding west on FM 1960 over Lake Houston. On Fairlake Drive at the church several bikers gathered around their cars and some waved as I rode by. When i turned onto Fairlake a SUV with two bikes on a rear rack pulled up to the stop sign. I waved but I couldn’t see if they did.
Sweating heavily I stopped at the Huffman Chevron to refill my water bottle and wipe off some of the sweat dripping from my arms. I still hear clicking sounds from the Stradalli while moving and not pedaling. While I was at the Chevron station I tried moving both tires from side toi side to see if the bearings were loose but I couldn’t tell from that. I decided to take the Stradalli to Bike Werks on the way to my afternoon appointment for them to take a look. I will ride the Blue Norcorss AL while it is away. Thank goodness for a backup bike.
The SW 8 mph wind was nice for cooling purposes and didn’t slow me down too much. I noticed after leaving the Chevron when I moved the PowerPod accidentally the watts readings jumped to the 500 and 600 range. Moving the PowerPod the watts dropped to zero so I moved it back and the numbers slowly returned to a more realistic range. For a moment I thought my legs were super powered. Temperature during the morning ride ranged from 82 at the start to 90 when I finished with partly cloudy skies.
Hopefully the rain stays away tomorrow (we don’t need any after getting 4.95″ Sunday and Monday) and I will ride.
