Can’t Escape the Rain Bike Ride
After reaching my goal for June today I decided to ride my Blue Norcross AL bike on the “Atascocita – Huffman – Walden” route for variety and as it turns out a leg muscle session. The Blue is about 7 or 8 pounds heavier than my usual ride, the Stradalli Red Pro 14 Carbon, which not so bad at the beginning but the last 8 miles of the ride my legs started to fade big time. The total miles for the bike ride was 32.8 which moved June to 845 miles. I started the ride at 10:59 with a mostly cloudy sky and 88 degrees. Wind wasn’t much of a factor at 8 mph from the south.
Lately biking to the Huffman area involved rain. Well today wasn’t any different except this time I rode after the rain left. I first encountered wet road as I made the left turn from Atascocita Shores Drive onto FM 1960 east. The road was wet but not enough for the bike tires to spray up my back. I think the short knobby tires kept the tire just far enough above the wet road so that the water couldn’t get a hold and become spray. When traffic passed I felt a little spray. When I returned on FM 1960 all signs of the rain were gone except in protected areas by the concrete guardrail. I saw some menacing clouds early in the ride but they moved away.
I finished the ride at 1:38 and wiped the bike down some in case any dirt got attached.
Maybe the ride tomorrow will be rain free.
