Overcast and 75 Degrees December Bike Ride
Overcast skies and 75 degrees waited for me outside when I began my bike ride today. Not bad for December 13th. When I got home after the ride I received a text message from my daughter in Ohio showing lots of snow. The route for today was “New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch” riding mostly north and south. The WSW 8 mph wind was great biking to Tavola where I turned around but not so friendly on the return ride south. The bike ride totaled 33.42 miles.
When I got ready to ride I started to just wear a long sleeve jersey and shorts but after thinking about the wind and overcast sky I switched to a long sleeve jersey and a short sleeve one over it. This was a good choice because the 79% humidity made the wind feel chilly as I biked.
No rest stop today since I wasn’t overheated and hungry. Biking time came in at 2:14:17. I started at 12;22 and finished at 2:39. I saw two other bicyclists early in the ride before leaving Kingwood. Traffic on the I-69 northbound service road was light in Porter despite the Christmas shopping season. Biking through Valley Ranch behind the shopping area the traffic was nonexistent except for a couple of construction trucks. The only store that I know is open is Academy Sports + Outdoors.
I made it through all of the school zones before classes let out.
