Cyclocross racer Missy Hardeman killed while cycling Texas highway
by canklecat
www.bikeforums.net
Texas cyclocross racer Missy Hardeman was struck and killed Wednesday evening around 5 p.m., November 23, 2016, while bicycling on Texas state highway 31 near Hubbard. The idea of riding a bicycle from the fringes of Tyler’s city limits to downtown is – frankly – frightening.
Broadway is packed, and Old Jacksonville Highway is steadily gaining traffic.
East and West Corridors don’t look much better on Texas Highway 31, Front Street, Texas Highway 64, or Erwin Street.
And, peddling on Loop 323? No way. …
Houston nonprofit rides to the rescue for refugees, giving them bikes to navigate the city
By Dylan Baddour

The first thing he noticed was the sheer number of cars on the massive highways when Assumani Bakari arrived in Houston on a Thursday in February. He left George Bush Intercontinental Airport with a driver at 4 p.m. and marveled out his window for three hours at the stream of thousands of vehicles while he rode across town. Something must have been wrong that day, he …
