A group of 22 cyclists rode through Lake Charles on Friday in the second week of their Texas 4000 for Cancer campaign, a fundraiser for cancer researchers and patient support providers.
The riders, all full-time University of Texas students, are taking part in an 18-month leadership program that involves training, volunteer events and hospital visits.

DAVIS — Wearing short-sleeved orange and blue cyclist jerseys that had the words Texas 4000 cancer printed in white lettering, 20 University of Texas students disassembled their bicycles and placed them into a trailer that was hitched to their van.
They had arrived at Turner Falls after cycling north on Highway 77 to Turner Falls Park.
