Three “little heroes†from Fort Hood were presented with new bicycles during the Ride 2 Recovery dinner at Club Hood, April 13.
Operation Red, White and Bike is a non-profit organization that donates and presents personalized bikes to who they call “little heroes†– the children and younger siblings of our service members who have been wounded in combat or will not be coming home. Red, White and Bike is dedicated to “recognizing this incredible sacrifice that is too often overlooked,†its website says. …

By Landan Kuhlmann
www.yourhoustonnews.com

Crash sends cyclist to El Paso hospital
by Stewart McClintic
www.scdailypress.com
A crash involving a bicycle and a car Sunday sent the cyclist to University Medical Center in El Paso.
According to a police report, Dezarae Turner, 21, of Silver City, was riding her bicycle south on Pope Street toward the U.S. 180 intersection on Sunday afternoon when her brakes failed. Turner went careening through westbound highway traffic and into the eastbound lanes, where she collided with the back left bumper of a car driven by Tamera Ahner of Silver City.
Ahner told the Daily Press she saw the whole thing unfold while driving east on U.S. 180 toward Silver Heights Boulevard, and she tried to speed up so Turner would not strike her vehicle. …
