Ride 2 Recovery and 159 participants, including 15 from Fort Hood, stopped in the Killeen-Fort Hood area April 13-14, on their way from Georgetown to Waco. Fort Hood hosted the riders for a dinner at Club Hood Wednesday and III Corps hosted a send-off in front of III Corps Headquarters Thursday morning. If you’ve ever traveled by bicycle – or just happen to live on the outskirts of a city – then you too likely recognize that the roads just outside the city, where country transitions to suburbs, can be some of the most dangerous to deal with on a bicycle. Maybe it’s the fact that drivers are used to going 65mph+ on country roads, maybe it’s the fact that they’ve just navigated hours of traffic and have finally hit the open road – only to encounter you on a bicycle.
